TRAVEL - Did you ever heard from the Island Tabarca?

In September I've been on holiday again back for a few days to Spain. We had plans to visit the island Tabarca. A very small and cozy island with seriously a beautiful village centre. Everywhere colorful houses, each with its own color and window coverings. Tabarca is reachable only by boat or ferry and is worth for a visit.

Where is Tabarca?

Tabarca is a small island located before off the Spanish coast, a few kilometers from the seaside town of Santa Pola. The island belongs to the province of Alicante. It is 1800 meters long and has a maximum width of 400 meters. The maximum height is 15 meters. In its immediate vicinity are a number of smaller, uninhabited islands and reefs.

Our daytrip

So we were remain going there only for a few hours. Fortunately, we did it because on Saturday probably all the Spaniards intend to go to Tabarca. The ferry was full and it was almost 34 degrees but the wind on the boat kept us cool. An half hour from Santa Pola to Tabarca for only € 10, =. Through pictures I show an impression of the island. Enjoy watching.

Accessibility

As written, there is a boat connection to the island with Alicante while also from the nearer Santa Pola (half an hour) is a ferry. From Torrevieja (1 hour), Benidorm and El Campello, the island is also accessible. Note that the departure times are different than in the summerseason.

The Ferry

Ever been in the Ferry in Amsterdam from the Central Station to Amsterdam North? It's almost the same boat but on deck there are chairs and on the lower deck you can see the fishes through a window in the bottom of the boat. Unfortunately my camera didn't work very good otherwise I could show you the pictures.

I've enjoyed the food and the environment on Tabarca but will I comeback again? No, not if it's above 30 degrees. Because of the heat we haven't walked through the whole island but we have eaten the most delicious fish and paella, and it is quite important to me .....

Are you ever been on Tabarca? Leave a comment below this blogpost.

Greetings,

paula
