TRAVEL | Visit the little village Orihuela with his old city centre

During my holiday in Spain I've also been to the little village Orihuela to see some musea and churches but.....it was sunday and in whole Spain everything is closed. So with this photo impression I'll show you the sweet little village.

WIKIPEDIA

Orihuela (Spanish pronunciation: [oriˈwela], Valencian: Oriola [oɾiˈɔla])[2] is a city and municipality located at the feet of the Sierra de Orihuela mountains in the province of Alicante, Spain. The city of Orihuela had a population of 33,943 inhabitants at the beginning of 2013. The municipality has a total area of 367.19 km², and stretches all the way down to the Mediterranean coast, west of Torrevieja, and had a total population of 92,000 inhabitants at the beginning of 2013. This includes not only the city of Orihuela, but also the coastal tourist centre (urbanización turística) of Dehesa de Campoamor with 33,277 inhabitants (2013) and a few other villages.[1]
The river Segura flows through Orihuela. The city was settled by Romans who called it Orcelis and subsequently Aurariola.

We went for the main sights

Church of Santa Justa y Rufina

Baroque church of Santo Domingo.

Even the church was closed but..... I've made a photosessie from the model who made pictures for a Spanish fashion magazine....

Orihuela Cathedral & Castle Ruins

We couldn't see them because they where also closed but to see it with your own eyes it's amazing. Up on a hill and very big area. Awesome it was. Behind the townhall you directly see the mountain. I forgot to take a picture from it.

The old Casino

It is a beautiful building from the outside but also from the inside. Unfortunaly we couldn't go in because there was a rehearsel from musician.

Parcs

If you walk in a spanish city or village, there is always a parc. I discover in Orihuela more than 5 parcs. Isn't it beautiful?

Visiting Orihuela was nice, but it was Sunday and it was too hot to walk so we decided to go to home to our swimmingpool.

I hope you enjoy watching/looking the pictures. Did you ever went ot Orihuela? Leave a comment below the blogpost.

Greetings,

Paula
