In my previous blog post I wrote just a bit about staying in Marmaris in apartment Kaptan Poyraz . An apartment where you shouldn't expect luxury but rather conviviality and hospitality. Basic rooms but super clean. The sincerity and the service they offer , I haven't encountered anywhere.
Yunus and Lotte are originally from Noordwijk (The Netherlands) and had the chance to take over the apartments. I thought they only had awarded the contract at the last minute to take over, and the complex had to be opened by May 16, 2016 . They have worked hard to make the complex a nice property although they are not yet ready.
There are studios and two -room apartments with a simple kitchen where the most kitchenware are available. Very simple but enough. We did not have high expectations because we believe that a hotel or apartment only is to sleep. For the rest of the day you will be on a walk or trip OR lie on the beach. The main thing is that its clean and that there are no bugs or little animals walking through the apartment. One thing I must say ... it was super clean and daily the housekeeper came to clean our apartment and clened up the beds. Top service. The last day we gave her presents.
History
Yunus and Lotte are originally from Noordwijk (The Netherlands) and had the chance to take over the apartments. I thought they only had awarded the contract at the last minute to take over, and the complex had to be opened by May 16, 2016 . They have worked hard to make the complex a nice property although they are not yet ready.
Yunus told us that the cleaning was a hell of a job and they cleaned the kitchen a few times in accordance with the terms of Europe - Netherlands . In addition, they had to find the right personnel to completely fit with the idea of Yunus and Lotte . Still , there are some points in the apartments to be repaired or altered but this needs time as they have taken over the complex only .
The Appartment
Consists the main building, a pool (with children's pool), an outside bar and dining area , the kitchen is a kind of outbuilding where you see the cook cooking. The menu on the menu is very European focused . There is even a Dutch map. We don't mind that the course is Dutch because the Turkish lira is for us a very favorable rate . Every day we ate for less than € 10 and we could see how the cook prepared meals.

Facilities
WiFi: unfortunately the wifi did not reach our apartment. So if we wanted to go surfing on internet or check our whatsapp we had to go to the pool or the dining area outside. For me it's no point not having a phone and laptop. because we came to rest but I had to writing some new stuff.
Accessibility: Unfortunately, this property has no elevator but fortunately we did not bring suitcases but backpacks so for us that was very easy. To enter the apartment you had to use a type of chip or card which put all electricity on. A small safe can be used for a fee. For the air conditioning we had to paid an amount of € 5 , = per day . It was wonderful to use the airco because it was very hot when we were in Marmaris. For the rest , we had no other demands on the apartment because we had made friends very quickly and every day we went out.

The restaurant
I'm a picky eater and pay attention to quality and taste. I prefer to stand next to the cook to see how he prepares the food. Whether it is cleaned and that the kitchen is clean. All this is present in the restaurant of Kaptan Poyraz. I know that Lotte takes care of the staff in the kitchen because her father is a cook. They know so what's wrong in terms of social hygiene in kitchen staff is required. Settled there were also Dutch dishes on the menu (hanging on the wall). Pancakes, homemade croquettes, etc. etc. The first day we ate in the restaurant and the food was tasty but in my opinion not well seasoned (I'm used to eat food from the cuisine of Gaziantep ... and herbs is a major role). The days after the food has been getting better and better as there was another cook. It was so delicious allowing us that's why we almost ate everyday in the restaurant. The price is good for us because as I mentioned earlier, was the Turkish lira for us very favorable. Every day we ate between € 5, = and € 10, =. Everything was as cheap for us. Even the cocktails, made by bartender Hakan, was super cheap for us! And of course we sat every evening drinking cocktail and sometimes enjoying it with a sisha/a hookah made by (Dutch-speaking: learning) Emir.
Prejudices
In this period of terrorism and prejudice from around the world, we asked Yunus whether he could describe an example of a situation in which it appears. A Dutchman came on holiday to Kaptan Poyraz despite opposition from his parents. It was said that he should not go to Turkey because it was dangerous, but he continued to persevere . At one point the man became ill (I forgot what he had exactly) but it was dangerous and he was taken to a hospital by Yunus (not far from the apartments). Yunus has ensured that everything was arranged for the patient and the man remained alive and recovering . The parents of the Dutchman came to Marmaris and thanked Yunus for his help . They indicated that they had not expected this and promised to come now regularly to Marmaris. How beautiful is this story? Of course it can happen that there are others who cheat tourists but you have to get lucky.
In any case, we want to thank Yunus and Lotte for their hospitality and for the great service they gave to us.
