TRAVEL - Yesss holiday in Marmaris was awesome

Last month I went on holiday to Marmaris, Turkish small seaside town located in the province of Muğla .

According to Wikipedia :

It has a population of 32,000 (2004), but in the summer the population can reach a peak of around 200,000 people.

The historical name of Marmaris is Physkos . The first settlement occurred around 3500 BC . After that include the Egyptians , Greeks , Persians , Romans , Byzantines and Ottomans have left their mark . However, there is little to see more of Marmaris itself. Known historical buildings include the 16th - century citadel , the Mosque of Ibrahim Agha in 1789 and the Ottoman residential barracks from 1545 .

Departure and Arrival

We left the Netherlands with the plane from Corendon Airlines at 07.00 from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and arrived at approximately 11:30 am at the airport of Milas Bodrum, where we were picked up by the companybus from Corendom to go to Marmaris. There was a great coach who brought us to Marmaris within 3 hours. The first thing we did was exchange offcourse money because I saw that the value of the Turkish Lira was quite favorable compared to the Euro. So we had to have a big purse because all the money did not fit into my normal wallet. hihihi ... suddenly we were incredibly rich .... So now survive the journey in the bus for three hours.

On our way to Marmaris

De bus/coach drove from Bodrum to Muğla and than to Marmaris. We just stopped for a break in Muğla) to eat and drink something and offcourse smoking a cigarette. The view during the trip was beautiful. The mountains were huge and beautiful. The colors of green and sand colors made it a remarkable picture. For me it was almost a year ago that I went to Turkey because of the expensive planetickets but this holidaytrip was very cheap. 8 days including a appartment for € 95,=. The planeticket was more expensive. So when the bus drove into the mountain we went sick a little bit because of the high and low air.

Our hotel appartement

I've booked an appartement in the Kaptan Poyraz Apartment/Hotel from the dutch turkish couple Yunus and Lotte. A very warm and cozy hotel appartement where the employments are very friendly and tried to learn the Dutch language. In another blogpost I will write about our stay in Kaptan Poyraz. In this hotel they had a satellite with Dutch channels. So we could see the European Soccer/Football Champignonship with lots of screaming, yelling, eating, drinking, alcohol, etc.

The beach and our favorit beachclub

After hard working and stressing in the Netherlands we came to rest...that's why we call it vacation or holiday. Yes, finaly a good holiday without shit or something. This could all convenience in Marmaris. The boulevard in Marmaris was very quiet, the beaches were quiet, the sun beds were plentiful. From the beachbar owners we understood that it was very quiet this year (almost 70% less tourist) tourists stay away because they think that Turkey is more prone to attacks by terrorists than in the rest of the world. Why are people so naive. Everywhere it can happen and in France and Spain they have foiled a number of attacks! Even in the Netherlands an attack can happen. In any case, I'd rather go to a cheap country then I have to spend lots of money for food, drinks, accommodation, etc.

Our resident beachclub was Rembrandt Beach where we met one of the owners Trudy. A very sweet and friendly lady who made us feel at home. The interest in her guests made sure we kept coming daily for lunch, dinner, drinks but most of all for sunbathing (we didn't have to bring our own beachtowel because you can borrow it from them)! Of course we had to join a Dutch Night because we are tourist.....finally we were with 4 persons and drunk the whole night long. Don't forgot to drink the cocktails at the Rembrandt Beach Club. During the Dutch Night there was unlimited drinking...2 visbowls with Sex on the Beach. Delicious !!!! The package or arrangement was drinks and snacks during the evening untill 01.00 o'clock in the night. Just beeing drunk for less money and in a few hours!!

Just a short trip to Fethiye

On a Friday we took the regional bus (as I call it) packed to go towards Fethiye. I had to pick something there but unfortunately no one was at home so we made the trip for nothing. We were three hours in the overheated bus and I was constantly hungry and thirsty, so I had a large bag with food and drinks with me to survive the 3 hours trip. In total we were only 2.5 hours in Fethiye and had to go back again because it became very quickly dark and we still had to travel for three hours back to Marmaris. It was a black friday for us. Near the Otogar (busstation) we obviously shopped at the big shopping center Erasta Fethiye. With overflowing bags (I did not have enough clothes with me when I came to Turkey ....- ;)) we came out of the shopping center and then drink a cappuccino at Mado.... with delicious ice ... The prices are well in line with European concepts so for the inhabitants overpriced . But we can afford it.

Playing tourist in Marmaris

We don't like buying souvenirs from a vacationspot but for some at home we have to bought some. Just for fun.

We had wonderful days in Marmaris. Our stay at Kaptan Poyraz was great, our days at Rembrandt Beach were outstanding. Our battery is fully charged to meet new adventures. This is what I call a holiday - Vacation!

Did you went to Marmaris last month OR do you live in Marmaris? How do you experience the life or your vacation in Marmaris? Please leave a comment below this blogpost .
